Food: Good ol’ mac ‘n’ cheese!

IMG_1396Oh I love a good mac ‘n’ cheese, I really do….just all that cheesy gooey goodness!I found a great recipe over at the BBC Good Food website and added cherry tomatoes and little chunks of chorizo which makes it even better and a bit more substantial. The hardest bit is trying not to burn the cheese sauce!

The best bit though, has to be the crispy breadcrumb topping to give it a little bit of crunch, and of course served with a bit of garlic bread.

It’s only an iPhone pic unfortunately as its getting harder to resist eating it straight away!

Fashion: Upcycled Fashion from The Colour Edit

The Colour Edit is a brand new online store with a difference and presented to you by fashion blogger Abbie Tanner from Fashiontatt and yours truly.

Long time friends, Abbie and I have been passionate about thrift fashion for years but were still astounded at the number of people who still wouldn’t set foot in a thrift/charity store. Wanting to take out the stigma attached to second hand clothing, we decided to showcase the best in high quality thrift fashion and present them in seasonal trend-led ‘Colour Edits’ to show how on-trend and seriously affordable second hand style can really be.

We both studied fashion at university with Abbie now a successful buyer and merchandiser and award nominated fashion blogger, so expect to see the label’s collections styled like a pro over at fashiontatt.blogspot.com. With my experience in the fashion and trends forecasting industry, I help direct The Colour Edit’s seasonal colour palette choices. We also love customising when we spot potential so expect to see one-off custom upcycled garments including the Tropical pink custom cropped top that’s on sale now!

The 1 Year Wedding Countdown…

With the 1year countdown to our wedding now on, we’ve got a clear idea of what we want and things seem to be coming together nicely and quite coincidentally! Not trying to jinx it or anything but it seems when you are more relaxed about things, and take on one thing at a time, its alot easier to handle and organise the massive list. But I’m certainly not saying its not stressful, my god it really is at some points. You just cant help stressing about even the details, but as soon as you realise its getting too much, try and take a step back and do something else. Or until your fiance makes you!

So far we have secured a venue, which is a lovely medieval barn currently being rennovated so we’ll be one of the first couples to get married, and even better its just 10minutes from where we live! I’ve also sorted my dress and the bridesmaids dresses which is a big relief. The dresses are even better than I could have imagined, and makes picturing the day even more realistic which is very exciting! We’r also in talks with a caterer and have sorted the marquee so are definitely making headway with the planning.

The trial run for the weddding flowers, of which my mother-in-law has kindly offered to grow for us was also a success. We’r planning on having a real summery mix of sunflowers, cornflowers and sweetpeas amongst others, so very bright, (as you can see in the inspiration board above). I’m also in the process of sending out our save the date cards and designing the invites, which I could spend all day doing – just so much fun and I love the fact that they are so personalised.

I’m not really aiming for a ‘vintage’ wedding theme but instead a crafted, rustic feel in keeping with the barn, along with a vibrant summer feel. I guess its got vintage style with some of the props we’ll be using but hopefully presented in quite a contemporary way.

I cant take credit for the lovely images above via Pinterest, but it sums up my inspiration from the addictive world of online wedding decoration. Any tips/pointers on wedding planning or decoration ideas do comment below!
