Salvage: First Wing Back Chair

So here it is! The before and after of the second chair I’ve upholstered for my first commission. This chair was certainly a challenge (and the reason I haven’t blogged much recently), as I’ve never dealt with wings before, and believe it or not, I’v never made a cushion cover before – so a t-shape foam cushion proved particularly troublesome. But with a lot of persistence, I got there. I love looking at the photo of it now with great satisfaction, but I must admit its a relief not having to worry about getting it finished in time any more so I’m going to take a little break from upholstery for the summer and take on smaller projects instead (that I can work on outside :)). I may even salvage my own chair to work on so I can do it in my own time frame – saving me a lot of stress!!

The photos aren’t great, but I’m pushed for space at the moment and had to take the finished photo out the back of where the chair now resides in a beautifully decorated window display at La Cuisine, a lovely little tea room and cookware store.

I’m sure I’ll be posting about some new projects soon!

Can you believe its November already? I started an upholstery evening course last month (I like to keep myself busy!) and this is the first mini project I’ve completed and am really pleased with it! Yes, I know its only recovering a stool but hey, its a start! I found this lovely solid oak stool at a local car booty for just £4 and was actually planning on selling it on after recovering it but it really matches my living room with the reds in the fabric and dark wood frame so have decided to keep it! I’ve got a feeling this is going to happen a lot!

I’m also in a middle of a couple of other projects – recovering another chair in the same fabric and a fully re-upholstering a lovely vintage nursing chair for a friend which I shall post about soon, I love a good winter project and this one’s a big’n!
